Transfer policy update – July 29, 2022
Oku Japan continues to closely monitor government travel advisories and restrictions designed to control the spread of COVID-19. We are directly contacting guests whose trips are impacted by these changes, and are working hard to provide you, our travelers, with flexible transfer options that are responsive to this ever-evolving situation:
For guests travelling in the next two months who have not already transferred their tour:
If you wish to cancel your reservation, we will be glad to assist you with this, less your non-refundable deposit and any cancellation penalties that may apply at the time of the cancellation of your original booking. Please refer to our booking conditions for cancellation terms and fees.
Alternatively, you may transfer the balance of your tour to new dates, without incurring any change fees.
Guests who transfer their balance to new tour dates by 30 September 2022 will not incur any change fees, and the new booking will be quoted at 2021 pricing for tours and arrangements.
Please note that when you transfer to new dates, any payments you have made over and above your deposit payment becomes a tour credit.
Should you wish to change the nature of your trip, we’re happy to help. You also have the option to apply your current deposit and tour credit to a different tour.
Please note that tour credits are non-refundable. If you do not use the full amount of your tour credit, it will be held on account for you. You may request a name change on your tour credit subject to terms and conditions.
Guests who are or were due to travel in the next two months are eligible to transfer free of charge to a new date departing until 31 May 2023.
Notify us of your preferred dates by 30 September 2022 to receive a travel credit valued at the rate of your deposit or balance payment, with tour pricing set in accordance with your new dates.
Guests looking to make a change are asked to please contact us directly at info@okujapan.com or by emailing the individual team member handling your booking. Alternatively, the option remains to cancel according to our standard Booking Conditions.
Your booking is safe with us
We understand that your financial security is important, and as an officially bonded tour operator, Oku Japan’s bonding with the Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust (ABTOT) means that your booking, balance, and any travel credit with us is financially protected. You can find The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 here: www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2018/634/contents/made
Please note that bookings made outside the EU are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with Oku Japan.
Please note that although transfer credits are non-refundable, we want our guests to be able to travel at a time that is safe and comfortable for them. As such, we will endeavour to work with you to offer as much flexibility as possible, including transferring your tour credit to another passenger name, or to a different tour of equal or greater value. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions on this.
Thank you…
Oku Japan prides itself on supporting communities and small businesses across Japan through tourism. We and our partners appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding in this ever-changing and complicated time. We hope you will choose to postpone rather than cancel your tour, to help support the local guides, accommodations, and service providers that look forward to welcoming you to Japan.
